The
STORY OF US

Something happened to music.

We used to listen to music on something physical. Something you could hold, touch, open and look at. It was an experience.

Today, most people stream music. You hit play, then shove the phone back in your pocket. If you want more of an experience, you need to crack open your laptop and watch a music video. Yuck.

Once upon a time

You were proud to show off what you were listening to. It’s part of your identity, your life soundtrack.

You used to be able to actually see what you were listening to, and connect with the world the artist intended you to see.

We think it’s that time again.

Hey there. This is Gordon, Erik and Alex - founders of Syne Research proudly based in Nashville, TN. Though Nashville is known for being the country music capital, Nashville is Music City where all music genres are represented and produced here. We are passionate fans of the arts who live at the intersection of music and aesthetics.

Gordon and Erik moved to Nashville to follow a dream of working in the music business. After cutting their teeth on the road as an audio engineer and tour manager, respectively, they dreamt of doing more. In 2015, they founded their first company, Cour Design, a creative firm that designs the visual side of concerts and shows for some of the largest touring acts in the world. Some of their clients include Lizzo, Billie Eilish, Paramore, Shawn Mendes, Pitbull, Charli XCX, Paris Hilton and many more. Along comes Alex Martin - the man at the delta of music, hardware and software. His journey began in Nashville as a music supervisor, helping artists get their music into TV and film. He then moved into building his own synthesizers, amplifiers and became a general wizard of the PCB. Finally, his passion led him to software school where he builds code infrastructure for products and systems alike.

After many years of servicing the countless tours of artists around the world, we had dreams of bringing products to audiences as well. Album covers always played a huge role in the overall feeling of album. It’s the central visual identity of an album that drives everything else around it. When the world moved to streaming music from listening on physical media, we all lost a big part of the listening experience - the visual side.

Together, we are on a mission to bring album artwork back to the forefront of the listening experience.
